Postpartum VLOG Winter Story 9.5 month update

WHAT MONTH?

 9.5 months

HOW BIG IS BABY?

Maybe 26 lbs

WHAT’S SOMETHING NEW THIS MONTH?

Winter has been trying so many new things, but this week she is learning to crawl. When we first got to Idaho I wanted her to learn how to get up from her belly to sitting and I could tell she was physically ready but maybe hasn’t had enough floor time to make that jump. It took her only a couple days and now she has mastered it. Next up is crawling and so far she takes a couple crawls and then lays flat on her tummy. She scoots around and gets to where she needs to but she has only taken a couple crawling strides. She’s close.. so close.

Also we are in Idaho where Eric’s mom and dad are meeting Winter for the first time!! It’s been amazing! She loves her nana and papa so much. We didn’t see them for a year because of Covid so this had been the most amazing blessing.

 MOST CHALLENGING MOMENT?

We took a trip to Hawaii and then came home for 2 days and jumped in the car for a road trip. It was a whirlwind. We were here in Idaho for only a few days and then Eric had to leave for a week to Atlanta for work. We had not been a part at all since before Covid so it was tough for us. We missed him so much and found ourselves a bit stuck. We are lucky because he is such an incredible partner and dad.

SOMETHING YOU LOVED THIS MONTH?

This is not only something I loved but it was so convenient, easy and fast that I was so excited to share. I did a #capsulepartner IG post about this the other day too.

When we were home for only two days I had some things I needed from the pharmacy but I couldn’t get there so I used a new pharmacy called Capsule and it was incredible. For all my mama friends in LA, Chicago, Austin, Boston, NY and the Twin cities this pharmacy delivers FREE same day in under two hours and takes insurance. Between unpacking and repacking, doing laundry, cleaning and prepping food there was no chance I would be able to leave the house. If you want to check it out you can here

MAMA TIME?

I just had my first massage in a very long time and it was EPIC!! Eric took the kids to a golf lesson (all three) and I went to get a massage and fell into a midday slumber.

It felt so good to do something nice and relaxing for my body.

WHAT AM I EATING ?

All the things!! Hahha I am making lots of different foods right now from things I picked up at the local farmers market. They have goat cheeses, veggies, gluten free breads. It has been amazing to be in a small town and taste all the local food.

MY BODY.

Thank goodness for the massage today because my body has been so stiff. I think I get into a pattern of sleeping on one side while breastfeeding and it does a number on my back. I need to spend more time stretching, I will add that to my todo list because when you stretch you make so much more space in your body for breath and energy.

 CHECKING IN.

Well it’s been quite a few months but it feels good to check in. Winter is doing Amazing. She’s a happy, chill baby who seems very settled with her family. She does not however feel comfortable when strangers come up to say hi. Since being in a very small Covid bubble she needs to be eased into the world. I can tell that it really scares her if she’s sitting on the ground and someone speaks to her that she doesn’t know. If I’m holding her she is fine and will turn into my chest but otherwise she gets really upset and cries the cutest cry.

Im full of so much gratitude for my family and for the time we have taken to get away while Eric is on hiatus from work. The kids are loving the adventure and Eric and I are enjoying the family time.

Some of the “getting back to normal” feels overwhelming. The scheduling and logistics can feel like a lot. I’m trying to take things day by day but it’s been such a slow bubble for so long my body is resisting the fast pace that use to be our normal. My guess is I’m not alone in this feeling.

I’ll be back with another update soon.
