Week 31-33 Pregnancy VLOG, baby 5 by Teresa Palmer
Weeks 31, 32 & 33
What’s baby up to?
Week 31
Size: About 28 cm long (crown to rump)
Weight: Around 3.5 pounds (1.6 kg)
Comparable to: A coconut!
Development: Baby’s processing info, tracking light (and moves every time I put the torch on my tummy!) and having a lot of hiccups!
Week 32
Size: Around 29 cm long (crown to rump)
Weight: About 4.0 pounds (1.8 kg)
Comparable to: A napa cabbage
Development: our bebes bones are fully developed now (which is why pre-term delivery babies at this gestation do quite well! ) Baby is practicing swallowing, breathing, blinking, and sucking. Often babies will turn head down around this time (mine definitely is!)
Week 33
Size: Around 30 cm long (crown to rump)
Weight: Nearly 4.5 pounds (2.0 kg)
Comparable to: A pineapple (my favourite fruit!)
Development: Baby’s brain is firing on all cylinders but the skull is still quite malleable and it flexes and moves when baby is coming down the birth canal. Bubbas immune system is developing, pupils can now dilate and constrict, and they’re starting to get into a sleep rhythm (mine naps mostly during the day and is more active in early mornings, late afternoon and the evening!) lightning crotch will often begin around this time too- baby’s head banging on the cervix causing sharp paid (yuuuup!)

Anything new these weeks?
A few things! Consistent- almost daily Braxton hicks, sometimes with a little pinch to them. Sore left pelvic muscle, always really achey after I’ve been sitting stagnant for a while, then when I get up it’s pretty painful and I’m hobbling around! Earlier morning wake ups for baby, like 6am onwards I’m always greeted by this little one having a party in there.
Challenges
Ewww reflux which I’ve never had in any previous pregnancy. It only happens at night when I’m lying down but it really depends on what I’ve eaten- anything particularly unhealthy/salty/greasy sets me off.
Reflections
I got all the baby clothes washed and sorted! Change table set up, nappies bought and pool broth has arrived. And seriously I have more clothes than I ever thought possible lol. It’s actually embarrassing how many outfits I have, most of it are hand-me-downs from the other babies but I also have been gifted some amazing pieces from some super cool brands. I have some VERY gendered clothing choices whether it be girly/frilly/dresses or straight up dude clothes. I’ve sorted everything into a YES pile which is gender neutral and then I’ve set aside the unmistakably gender specific clothes which I’ll have access to once I know the gender. So so crazy. I’m still pretty certain it’s a boy but Mark thinks it’s a girl!! Ahhhh the surprise is going to be so special! Not long to go now. I know these last 7 weeks will fly by. Feeling excited, nervous and in a state of wonder!
