Week 28-30 Pregnancy VLOG, baby 5 by Teresa Palmer
Weeks 28, 29 & 30
What’s baby up to?
Growing! Kicking! Vibing in the tum. It’s been sooo consistent all the movement.
Week 28
Size: About 25 cm long (crown to rump)
Weight: Around 1.1 kg/2.4 lbs
Comparable to: A large eggplant 🍆
Development: Baby’s blink reflex has kicked in and they can now open and close their eyes (which is saaaaah cute) this week they might possibly even be able to respond to bright light through your belly (I’m yet to try it but will!) Baby is starting to add some chub to that little frame. It’s a full-body dance party in there.
Week 29
Size: About 26 cm long (crown to rump)
Weight: Around 1.3 kg/2.9 lbs
Comparable to: A butternut pumpkin 🎃
Development: Muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and baby is practicing breathing (the amniotic fluid) more regularly. They’re also getting a bit more squished as they grow, so the movements might feel more like stretches and rolls rather than sharp pokes (I’m definitely noticing this difference!)
Week 30
Size: About 27 cm long (crown to rump)
Weight: Roughly 1.4–1.5 kg/3.1-3.3lbs
Comparable to: A large bunch of broccoli 🥦
Development: Baby’s brain is now taking over temperature regulation and their bone marrow is making red blood cells all on its own. They’re getting pudgier, smoother, and more baby-like by the day- less alien vibes. I’m also getting many a kicks to the bladder!

Anything new these weeks?
I felt hiccups for the first time! I wrote down this “baby milestone” as the every first entry in this baby’s page of milestone. It was so cute. I felt it right at 30 weeks, just a consistent movement for about two minutes, it was so sweet. I have yet to feel hiccups so that was gorgeous.
Challenges
The lingering “90 day cough” geeeez it’s actually really inactive and then if I’m cold or outside or talking too much it’ll come back up again. I’ve torn my intercostal muscle too which is making it much more changing as it really hurts when I cough, sneeze or even put weight on my right arm. Luckily that seems to be on the mend but man all these pains and ailments, I’m definitely not feeling like exercising as much as I’m wanting to haha!
Reflections
It’s feeling really like the ending of my pregnancy and yes I know I still have over two months to go, but these weeks have just REALLY flown by! I’ve started prepping everything already- buying things I don’t have and I’ll go through all the baby clothes and set stuff away and make sure baby has a great little spot for all their things. It’s that nesting stage which is just so nice! I have to get creative with where to put everything as we don’t have a nursery set up but our babies always sleep in our bed for at least the first few years so I’ll have to clear out some of my own closet to find space. It’s all so exciting and as always, I’m forever grateful!!
