Weeks
10 & 11
What’s baby up to?
Week 10
Size: About 3.1 cm long (crown to rump)
Weight: Around 4 grams
Comparable to: A kumquat
Development: Baby has officially graduated from embryo to fetus! Limbs are longer, joints are working, and tiny fingernails and hair buds are forming. Internal organs are in place and starting to function.
Week 11
Size: About 4.1 cm
Weight: Around 7 grams
Comparable to: A fig
Development: Baby’s head is still large, but the body is lengthening. Bones are hardening, and tooth buds are forming under the gums. Baby may even be hiccuping now (cayuuuute)

Anything new these weeks?
Went for my NIPT blood tests at 10 weeks! Eeek definitely feeling nervous about it but excited to get this next hurdle out the way.
I also finally got to tell Sarah and what a SURPRISE it was! Her reaction was so pure and gorgeous and just filled me up with so much joy. A dream come true.
Challenges
I had a sensitive 10 weeks, I really felt super nervous because it was my prior “loss week” so I actually ended up listening to the heartbeat every day during week 10. Some days I found the heartbeat immediately on the Doppler and other days it took longer which would make me sweat but I kept the faith and everything worked out!
Reflections
I’ve been thinking about my loss last year and how far along I was- this pregnancy I am so connected to and I just can’t believe how cruel it would feel to lose it at this stage and yet I survived that last year and felt optimistic about trying again for another baby. I’m just been thinking about how grateful I am to have another go at this and how precious this rainbow baby is to me.
