The Feminine Truth by Nicola Anderson

We live in a time of change whereby human interaction is becoming more conscious. We often vocalize our truths to people we know, but also more commonly to the world. The movement of women empowerment is shaping the globe, with the intention for a better future. But- are women really supporting one another?

The mentality of competition amongst women is vastly out-dated and hinders the true core of what we women are aspiring to achieve. The competition is not only one’s appearance, it’s materials, success, relationships, and experiences. Perhaps it is what society has shaped us to become, where we maintain focus on the things that lead us to unhealthy comparisons and judgment. These are all unrealistic expectations of what we want for ourselves, or expect of others; nothing is good enough. The restless need for ‘more’ when comparing and competing with others, will not lead to positive change.

As women, we need to remain in the stillness of sisterhood, where we uplift one another and are happy for other people’s success, experiences, relationships, material possessions, and growth. Instead of creating a space of wanting something better or something more, we can humanize our perspectives and choose a healthier outlook. Feeding our minds with good thoughts, surrounding ourselves with friends and family who uplift us, and becoming generally grateful for what we have in our own lives, will lead to being happy for other women’s achievements. This will create change, where to the core, we as women are rising to our full potential.
