Postpartum Vlog: Prairie Moon, Week 9

WHAT WEEK?
9

HOW BIG IS BABY?
12lbs (I’m guessing!) I haven’t weighed her this week but I think she’s put on weight.

WHAT’S SOMETHING NEW THIS WEEK?
Prairie loves lying on her little lion soft mat and looking up at the ceiling, watching the fan or the trees if she’s outside. I think it’s really interesting to discover her little personality, she is happy having some time to herself and not on someone’s body, she loves both things and oscillates between time to herself in the swing and on the mat and then in our arms.

MOST CHALLENGING MOMENT?
Poet has been climbing back into our bed a couple of times in the night and with the dockatot on the bed there isn’t a ton of room for her to get in with us. It means she wakes us up and often Prairie too, who is a light sleeper but a great sleeper so I need to try and keep her asleep during the night. I’m trying her back in the same bed as the boys to see if that helps!

SOMETHING YOU LOVED THIS WEEK?
Loving all the gorgeous moments between the kids and Prairie. She’s just the light of their life. We also went Halloween shopping and decorated the house this week which was so wild and fun. We just love this time of the year. Spooky season is upon us!

MAMA TIME?
I’ve had some nice chats with my bestie this week, she’s slept over a few days this week and it’s been really lovely seeing so much of her. I’ve also managed to get some work done this week and that always feels like mama time.

WHAT AM I EATING?
Avocado toast with truffle oil, vegan cream cheese. Lots of smoothies (yummo Lovewell) Green juices, vegan pizza, tons of kombucha!

WHAT’S WORKING?
On demand feeding and meeting her needs whenever they arrive. Lots of cuddles, cluster feeding before bed, swaddling down to sleep, nursing down to sleep plus the swing and mat time are ALL working!

MY BODY?
Is feeling good, tired at times but otherwise feeling great. I have some water retention and my breasts are very large! Ha! but I’m feeling good. The better I eat the better my body feels (naturally!) I notice when I have too much salt I find it harder to feel awake in the morning so I’m currently watching my sodium intake!

CHECKING IN
This week has been lovely at home with the kids. We do really well just finding fun at the house. It’s nice to keep it simple, with a few outings here and there but mainly enjoying each other’s company at home. In my older age I realise what a homebody I am. There’s nothing I love more than snuggling up with my man after the kids are in bed and watching a show or just turning on the hose in the front yard and listening to the kids squeal with delight as they frolic in the water. Beautiful, simple moments that go by so fast.
