And the best part about making homemade crackers is knowing exactly what goes into them: simple ingredients, no unnecessary additives, and something the whole family can enjoy. It's recipes like this that remind us to go back to basics and that nourishing food doesn’t need to be complicated. A few simple ingredients, a little time, and you have something delicious made with care.

Ingredients
½ cup chia seeds
½ cup flaxseeds (linseeds)
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup pumpkin seeds (pepitas)
¼ cup sesame seeds
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon dried herbs (such as rosemary, thyme, or oregano) *optional
1½ cups water
1 tablespoon olive oil *optional

Method
- Preheat your oven to 160°C and line a large baking tray with baking paper.
- In a large bowl, combine all of the seeds, salt, and dried herbs if using.
- Add the water and stir well. Allow the mixture to sit for 15–20 minutes until the chia and flaxseeds absorb the water and form a thick, gel-like mixture.
- Stir through the olive oil, then choose your cracker shape. You can either spread the mixture evenly onto the prepared tray to create one large cracker sheet, or spoon the mixture into small flat circles for individual crackers. Use the back of a spoon or spatula to flatten them out; the thinner you spread them, the crispier your crackers will be.
- Bake for 30 minutes, then carefully flip the cracker sheet and bake for another 20–30 minutes until golden and crunchy.
- Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces or slicing into crackers.
