Non-toxic, easy to find and affordable, these moisturisers were made for new bubs and beyond

Navigating products to use on your precious newborn is no easy task. And often, what appears to be all natural on the label actually becomes a huge disappointment once you start dissecting all those ingredients on the back. The good news is, there are lots of natural options available, even if your little one has sensitive skin. Here are our mum-approved favourites.

WELEDA CALENDULA BODY LOTION

As far as natural brands go, Weleda is a firm favourite here at g+s, and the Calendula moisturiser is no exception. Beautifully light, the milky cream is super soothing and of course gentle enough to use on even the tiniest of bodies every day. If you prefer a non-fragranced option then opt for the calendula baby oil instead.

ECOSTORE BABY MOISTURISER

Shea butter, Jojoba and olive oil make this lavender-scented moisturiser extra hydrating on little skin. It’s a good all-rounder for most skin types and an affordable chemist find, but it’s also worth noting that it does contain Benzyl Alcohol, so keep in mind if your little one has any skin sensitivities.

WOTNOT BABY LOTION

GMO-free Vitamin E and organic flaxseed oil make this rich moisturiser a really good option for keeping delicate skin free from dryness. It’s rich in Omega 3 and 6, can be used on sensitive skin and works well on dry patches despite being non-greasy. It’s also free from harsh preservatives.

JACK N’ JILL NATURAL BATH TIME MOISTURISER, SIMPLICITY

We’re already fans of their natural toothpaste, so Jack N’ Jill’s Simplicity moisturiser was a welcome find. It’s a great option for newborns or toddlers with sensitive skin, is fragrance free, plant based and includes coconut oil for extra post-bath nourishment. We also love that it’s made in Australia and comes in a handy BPA free pump bottle.

COCONUT OIL

If you want to go completely natural, you can’t go past good old coconut oil. It’s also a great backup when you’re all out of your favourite moisturisers mentioned above, simply grab it from the pantry and, voila! It’s a great multitasker – use it for a baby massage, nappy rash as well as to help loosen cradle cap.
